Janie Lois Fleming's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Janie L. Fleming of Jackson, Michigan who passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the age of 88 leaving to mourn family and friends. Janie was born in Wetumpka, Alabama to the parents of Claude Lovejoy and Helen Henry
Janie Fleming attended Jackson Public schools and graduated in the class of 1951 with honors. Janie was a lifelong member of the AME Church of Jackson, Michigan for 75 years. Janie worked as an Elevator Operator at the Hart Hotel in Jackson, Michigan. One of Janie’s many talents was dressing mannequins during her employment at the Lerner Shop; she had an eye for fashion.
Janie also worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Company, and retired from AT & T Telephone. Janie then went to work at Jackson Housing Commission as a Housing Manager before she retired in 2001.
Janie is preceded in death by her mother Helen Bobo, and father Claude Lovejoy.
Janie leaves to cherish her memory, her two sons; Alan Fleming of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Michael Fleming (Carmen) of Lansing, Michigan, three grandchildren; Nichole Fleming Carr (Zach) of Chicago, Illinois, Michaela Fleming of Lansing, Michigan, and Shana Fleming of Kenosha Wisconsin and one great grandson; Jaden Carr of Chicago, Illinois.
