I wrote something to share the sentiments of my heart about you. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to say all of this and more to you over the years. I read this at your homegoing but, wanted to share it publicly.
One week ago today, you went home to be with the Lord. I new this day would come, but the signs I tried to ignore.
I was hoping and praying that God would see you through but, after all that was said and done, God did what was best for you.
I am so grateful and thankful that you were my mom, because, I learned the way of the Lord when I was oh so very young.
You trained me up, in the way that I should go, so that I would know Jesus as my savior, my God and my Lord.
Because I was your only daughter, your only baby girl, you taught me to love and trust Jesus and not the things of this world.
You were a woman of wisdom, a warrior in prayer, as my Pastor & Firs Lady said, a stately lady by the life and clothes you would wear.
Oh the memories, oh the moments and secrets we shared. They were all written down on paper and covered with your prayers.
I saw God answer many prayers that you prayed but, more importantly, I saw the life you lived i preparation for this day.
You often used scripture to guide me through life. I guess that's why you were a great mother, a wonderful grandma and an extraordinary wife.
I saw you praying and praising, God while you were leaving this world. You were like the merchant in the Bible seeing Jesus and going after the great pearl.
I'm really going to miss you and I know I will cry but, THANK GOD you made it, for now you have eternal life.
No more medicine, no more pain, no more doctors visits or shame. No more pacemakers, stints or colds. Just singing and dancing and praising the Lord.
I'm not going to say good-bye
but till we meet again,
rest in the arms of Jesus
my mother, my prayer partner
my dearest and closest friend.
Love you so very much mommy
