Winifred Jane Gant's Obituary
Winifred Jane Gant,“Winnie”, age 89, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
Winifred was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore Sr. and Alice Jones, brothers, Theodore Jr., Fred Sr., Harry Sr., Henry Jones Sr., sister Florence Smith and grandchildren Benny Gant III, Katina, Janice Gant. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Benny Jr. (Roseann) Gant, Lee Ann Robinson, Mark and Harry Gant. Her grandchildren, Winifred “Nikki” Robinson, Shane Gant, Daren Young, Corbin Eccleston, Christy Carter, Vanessa, Amanda, Terrence, Emeril, Keontay, Kanosha and Eniya Gant; 15 great-grandchildren; her godson, Rayfield Foster. Many nieces, nephews, andfriends.
Known as Winnie, she worked for Mercy Hospital for 22 years and Foote Hospital
for 3 years as a Ward Clerk back in the days when they purchased Mercy Hospital.
She then left Foote and went to work for Dr. Joseph R. Tai, and worked for him
for over 20 years before her retirement over 25 years ago. She enjoyed her
retirement, spending time with her children and grandchildren, shopping, and
challenging every game she could find on her computer or tablet.
Per her wishes, she has been cremated, and there will be no services. She will
be laid to rest July 11, 2026 alongside her family at Woodland Cemetery.
