Willie Ruth Rice's Obituary
W. Ruth Rice was born November 1, 1942 in Newnan, GA to Joseph Jackson and Jessie Ruth Dallas. Ruth is the third of six children and was raised to love and fear the Lord. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.
She graduated from Southwestern High School, Detroit, MI in 1960. She held many administrative support positions and was a faithful employee until her 2002 retirement from Highland Park Community College. Always organized and precise in her duties, Ruth provided the utmost support for those who crossed her path. Ruth had a true passion for music. She was formally trained as an organist, and sung and played with various choirs.
Ruth married Jesse Rice on July 5, 1975 in Detroit, MI. They served in ministry under Pastor Larry Dallas at True Gospel Tabernacle before founding Victory Christian Center Church in 1987. She directed the Victorious Women’s Ministry as well as the VCC Music Ministry.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Known for her gracious spirit and compassionate nature, she always lent a listening ear and words of encouragement.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and her brother, Larry. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, Bishop Jesse Rice; two children: Curtis D Wynn, Jr. and DaShawn Wallace (Leon), three sisters: Queenie Tharpe (Ike), Joyce Pearson (Frank) and Bonelle Frierson (Charles), one brother: Ellis Dallas and five grandchildren: Timothy Wynn, Jordan Wynn, Jessica Wallace, Mikayla Wallace and Lindsey Wallace. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
