Rev. Victor Garrett Talley's Obituary
Victor Garrett Talley was born to Alvin and Orsie Bell Talley on May 9, 1953 in River Rouge, Michigan. His parents and two brothers; Luther and Alvin preceded him in death. In his youth on September 13, 1975 he married Alicia Hope Priestly and to this union six wonderful children were born. He truly loved his family. Later in life he met and married Valarie on September 18, 2010; forever in life partnership and he inherited two sons. Spiritual Accomplishments Victor’s spiritual accomplishments include, but are not limited to him giving his life to Jesus and being baptized. He joined Promise Land M.B.C. and became a Deacon under the leadership of Pastor Melvin Williams. Later, in a service, he joined Greater Bethlehem M.B.C. under the Leadership of Pastor Randolph Thomas. Victor was Pastor Thomas’ Armor Bearer and Pastor Thomas became Victor’s beloved spiritual mentor, brother and friend. On January 13, 2003, under Pastor Thomas spiritual guidance, Victor was licensed to preach the gospel and on May 20, 2004 at Greater Bethlehem M.B.C. he was ordained by his Pastor and Pastor E. S. Payne. In 2006 he became Youth Pastor and Children’s Church Instructor under Pastor E.S. Payne at Antioch M.B.C. In 2009 he joined Pine Grove M.B.C., which he called his family church under the leadership of his cousin, Pastor Debirley Porter. Rev. Victor Tally remained faithful in his service for the Lord there until he departed this life. Educational Accomplishments Victor attended public schools in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Southwestern High School in 1972. He attended Henry Ford Community College; received his certification in Word Processing at Wayne State University and attended the University of Michigan where he majored in music. Gifts/interest/Hobbies Rev. Talley was an avid participator in prayer meetings, bible study, vacation bible school; doing all with perfect attendance. Home bible study and ministering to youth, the homeless and shelter residents, which was very dear to his heart; inspired him to start Victory Evangelistic Outreach Ministries (VEOM) where he ministered for many years; twice a month he ministered and taught bible study at the Detroit Rescue Mission Ministries (DRMM). He loved and was a gifted and anointed drummer and enjoyed giving drum lessons. Rev. Victor Garrett Talley departed this life suddenly on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Henry Ford Hospital Main Campus in Detroit, Michigan surrounded by his family. He leaves his legacy of loving Jesus his Savior and precious memories to cherish to a loving and devoted wife; Valarie, two sons; Kurtis and Victor II, four daughters; Valencia (Marcus), Tameka, LaKesha, and Alisha, two stepsons; Myron Beck, and Rodney Beck II, eleven grandchildren: Daniqua, Jeanetta “Netta”, Damon “DJ”, Davion, Dana, Sarah, Daiquan, Jacob, Aliya, Madison, and Jarrett “JR”, eight step-grandchildren; Leon, Anthony “Malik”, Samariele “Mama”, Chynah, Evelyn, Rodney J, Jaylin, and Simone “Pooh”, one stepsister; Brenda Richardson, one aunt; Dorothy Randolph, one special nephew; Anthony Talley who helped care for him, two godmothers; Elizabeth Jordan and Freddie Anderson, one god sister; Helen Pilson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
