V Esther Bolds' Obituary
V Esther Bolds graced our world with her presence on April 22, 1948, in Marianna, Arkansas to Edwin Flavos Bolds and Essie Lee (Flannel) Stewart. A hard worker even in her youth, she picked cotton out in the fields. At theage of 14, V left Arkansas and moved to Saint Louis with her mother Essie Lee and brothers Akuta and Lee (Peanut).
She graduated from Soldan High School in 1966. V obtained her nursing license in Saint Louis, Missouri and worked at Saint Louis Mental Health Hospital. Eventually, she moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan. A woman with many accolades, she attended Grand Rapids Community College where she earned an Associate of Arts in May 1992 and a Bachelor of Applied Science and Health Care Administration from Davenport University in 2001.
V Esther spent many years as a home healthcare aid providing care and comfort to those in need. A natural care giver in all aspects, she brought life to every plant she touched and gave a home to many pets along the way. From birds, bunnies, lizards to cats and dogs. Sharing a special bond with her Rottweilers.
V attended New Hope Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan where gave her life to Christ. In her past time, she enjoyed sewing, puzzling, listening to her Blues Music, and a good card game. Paying homage to her mother’s family name, V started a business handcrafting her “Flannel Backing” blankets bringing warmth to all that had the luxury of owning one. Before quilting, she had a dream to start “V’s soulful kitchen”. It was licensed but didn’t get a chance to make it to brick and mortar.
V gained her wings on February 22, 2025. A special number of hers that many will always remember.
