Terrance Lamont Worthey's Obituary
Terrance ‘Terry’ LaMont Worthey’s journey began April 28, 1973 to the union of John Lee Worthey and Patricia Anderson-Worthey in Jackson, MI. His journey continues as he peacefully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, on Sunday morning, February 4, 2024.
Blessed with the opportunity to live with his great-grandparents Tommy & Mable Caddell as a young child, Terry often bragged about how spoiled he was while there, along with where his cookie habit was formed. If you know, you know! After their passing he went on to live with his mother and siblings until he graduated high school in 1991.
During his youth, Terry formed many life-long friendships including his best friend Michael Hurd, Donnell Ashley, Henry ‘HB’ Brown, Erick Heard and their tight knit group affectionately known as the “Cut Ups” – just to name a few! Legend has it, they did just that! Yet Terry managed to keep a strong work ethic throughout the entire time. He went on to further his education at Jackson College before moving to Detroit, MI.
After spending several years in the Motor City, continuing to create life-long friendships and working for various companies, Terry made the conscious decision to return to Jackson the summer of 2010. Later that year, he met Tonja – who would eventually become his wife and life partner – while cashing his work check at a local bank. They often joked about their first date where Terry expressed during dinner he wasn’t interested in a woman with children, but by dessert he’d changed his mind! And on Super Bowl Sunday, February 5, 2012 he proposed to Tonja and her four children – Ericka, Monica, Gregory & Marcus at Old Country Buffet. They married on Tonja’s Birthday, June 15, 2013 and he was her best gift ever since.
In the Spring of 2012, Terry made the best career decision ever! He accepted a position at Eaton Corporation and walked away from his two other jobs. He enjoyed going to work! It was at a place where co-workers turned into friends and friends became like family. He looked forward to arriving early to carry Ms. Mary Mallett’s (work mom) bag and mingling with the previous shift. From the janitors to the Supervisors, he made an impact on them all. Way too many to name – but you know who you are and the personal relationship you had. Your care and concern for him will never be forgotten!
Terry was a loving, caring, giving, supportive, committed, and loyal hardworking man. He was a proud Husband, Father and Papa. His name held weight amongst his community, co-workers and friends. Often described as the ‘Good Guy’ to those that met and knew him. Terry leaves to cherish his memories; his father John Lee Worthey, loving wife of ten years, Tonja; four children – Ericka, Monica, Gregory and Marcus; Three grandchildren – Cameron, Harmony and Nava. Five sisters – Sonya (Terry) Wilson, Heather Murguia, Jessie Westbrook, Kenika (Tremaine) Worthey-Brown, Elma Brown; special sisters – Anna Blythe, Melody (Tim) Jones; Two Sister/Cousins – Kathryn (Lepolean) Hall and Twyla Wright.
