Sherry Lynn Hunt's Obituary
Sherry Lynn Hunt was born on October 27, 1968, as the youngest child of Annie Pearl Hunt and James E. Hunt Sr.
At an early age, Sherry accepted Christ at Lily Missionary Baptist Church, where she began her spiritual journey. In 2024, she found a loving church home at Tabernacle of David, where she continued to grow in faith and fellowship.
Sherry was educated in the Jackson Public Schools system and proudly graduated with the Class of 1986. She continued her academic journey at Suomi College, earning her degree in 1988. Demonstrating her passion for learning and helping others, she later earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Jackson Community College in 2005. She went on to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University in 2009.
Sherry had a deep love for life’s simple joys. She enjoyed reading, tending to her yard, listening to music, and most importantly, serving and uplifting others in her community. She had a special place in her heart for animals and adored her rescue dogs—Baby, Peanut, and Speedy—who brought her great joy and companionship.
She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved children, Tyra and Tyler; her siblings, Shiela, Sherri, Gary, Lisa, John, Barbara, and William (Billy); and her dear friends Kristen, Connie, Valeria, Rochane, and Felicia. She also leaves a host of special nieces and nephews, including LaTasha, JaKeem, Chala, and Jairen. Additionally, she leaves to cherish her memory her “Bonus Mom,” Mother Erma Trice.
Sherry was preceded in death by her mother, Annie P. Hunt; her father, James E. Hunt Sr.; her grandmother, Annie B. Garth; and her brother, James Hunt Jr.
Sherry touched countless lives with her kind and compassionate spirit. Her willingness to help others and her dedication to serving her community will never be forgotten. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity.
We are grateful for the life she lived and the many ways she blessed those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered
