To the Sherrie Campbell Family-
I was deeply saddened to hear of Sherrie's passing. She was such a sweetheart—always gracious, kind, with such a beautiful spirit.
Sherrie was a tremendous blessing to my brothers and me as we prepared for our mother's homegoing service. I will always be grateful for the love and support she showed our family. We were also neighbors on Prospect Street for many years, which gave me so many wonderful memories to cherish.
One memory that always makes me smile is when Sherrie convinced me—and I believe it was Stephanie Breedlove and Leslie Crawford (please correct me if I'm mistaken, ladies!)—to perform Cheryl Lynn's Got to Be Real for a talent show. Sherrie was the one who organized everything, but somehow talked me into leading the song while she stood in the background singing and dancing! 😂 Like Joe Jackson, she made sure we rehearsed every day after school. Those were truly fun and unforgettable times.
I don't sing R&B anymore, but I wanted to share the song below. It's a beautiful rendition of Got to Be Real that celebrates the love of Jesus Christ and the memory of Sherrie.
Rest well, Sherrie. Thank you for the love, laughter, and precious memories. Until we meet again.
