Shelia Marie VanDyke's Obituary
Shelia Marie (Sherrod) VanDyke, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend to all transitioned from this life on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the age of 67. Shelia was born on March 2, 1948, in Jacks Creek, Tennessee. She was educated in the Jackson Public School System.
Shelia will be most remembered for her joyful spirit, beautiful smile, and of course she loved to talk. She was a woman who had a very good sense of humor, who loved spending time with her family and friends. She had many hobbies such as ceramics, crocheting, and gourmet cooking, just to name a few. Shelia was a very classy lady with an impeccable style and taste, who never had a hair out of place.
Shelia is survived by her loving husband of forty-six years, Lynn VanDyke, step-father; Sherman Smith, two sons, Abdul VanDyke and Jamail VanDyke of Union City, Tennessee; one daughter, Elizabeth Belew of Lansing, Michigan; four sisters, Loral (Embra) Banks, Patricia (Rodney) Brown-Ashworth of Jackson, Michigan, Edna Sherrod and Pam Sherrod-Smith of Minneapolis, Minnesota; two brothers, Larry Sherrod of Jackson, Michigan and Gary (Pinky) Sherrod of Minneapolis, Minnesota; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and special family friend, Theresa Ingram.
Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, Travis Sherrod and Raymell Smith, grandparents; John and Mattie Arnold, Frank and Helen Sherrod, and brother; Clarence Brown.
