Rosa Lee Thornton's Obituary
Rosa Lee Harris-Robinson-Thornton, also known as “Weedie”, was born April 27, 1950 in Jackson, MI. She was raised by Christian parents, Sylvester and Mozella Harris who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two sisters; Carlee Brown and Annie Osborne, an aunt; Beatrice Weatherspoon, and a great-niece; Theresa Adams.
She married Odis Robinson in March of 1969 and to this union two children were born, daughter; Angelene Hartley of Jackson, and son; Christopher Robinson of Adrian, Michigan.
Rosa attended Jackson Business Institute and worked at WIBM Radio Station. She then went on to work as a CNA for 37 years at the Jackson Medical Care Facility, Heartland Health Care Center, and Cedar Knoll Care Center. She was a seamstress and loved to do many other things including fishing, dancing, playing cards, Pokeno, Tripoli and Bingo. She loved football and was a die-hard Michigan fan.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory her husband; James Thornton, her daughter; Angelene (Redell) Hartley, her son; Christopher (Rebecca) Robinson, four sisters; Deloris (James) Whetstone, Candis (Cliff) Hollis, Gwen Pryor, and Ruthann (Patrick) Edwards, two brothers; Robert Harris and Gerome Harris, all of Jackson, Michigan, one goddaughter; Robyn Goodloe of Detroit, MI, eighteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family would also like to acknowledge her daughter-in-law, Rebecca and niece, Keisha Pryor for their special care, along with grandsons; DeQuann Page, Dylan Smith, and Montae Lloyd, a special niece; Gloria Watson, and special friends; Rosneil Coffee and Albert Edwards.
