Portia Michelle Rice's Obituary
Portia Michelle Rice, lovingly known to many as “Po-Po,” was born on October 24, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan. She attended public school system for Wayne County and later graduated from Cambridge College with a Bachelors in Business. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Christ Lutheran in Detroit, MI. She then later became a member of True Love Missionary Baptist Church which is also located in Detroit, MI. Portia was the daughter of the late Linwood Davis Sr. and Lela B. Davis, whom both preceded her in death as well as her brother Linwood Davis Jr.
She was united in holy matrimony to Stephen Rice Sr in 1973 at Christ Lutheran. This union was blessed with three children Antoinette, Stephen Jr. and Nathaniel. Stephen Rice preceded her in death in 2016.
Portia later met her special friend of thirty plus years Zebediah Burno. Who is also the father of her son Jeremy.
Portia, worked in housekeeping for many years, her last place of employment before her transition was with Embassy Suite in Romulus, MI. Where Ms. Yvonne Anderson shared that Portia was “The Life of The Job”! We couldn't agree more as result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality; she was loved by so many. Portia transitioned this life on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Harper Hospital in Detroit, MI.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Antoinette (Andre) Burrell, Stephen Rice both of Detroit, MI, Nathaniel Rice of Marion, OH, Jeremy Rice of Detroit, MI; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one brother, Gregory P. (Ethel) Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
