Patricia G. Williams' Obituary
Patricia Gray Williams was born to Mabel Mitchell and Exzell Gray on January 27, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. Patricia, who in later years was affectionately known as Pat, Big Mama and Cousin Pat, moved to Jackson, Michigan in 1951. It was in Jackson that she accepted Jesus as her savior and was baptized at Second Missionary Baptist Church by her pastor, Rev. A.P. Williams. Pat had several jobs in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. She was blessed to retire from Mechanical Products in Jackson, Michigan with over 20 years of service. She was a life time member of the Joan of Arc Chapter of International Free and Accepted Eastern Star. Pat was an avid softball player. She was a catcher and later a coach for the Black Merchants Women’s Softball team. We cannot forget her first love in sports, The University of Michigan Wolverine’s Football Team. You never ever talked any trash about them to or within hearing distance of Pat. Without a doubt, tried and true, Pat always cheered for the Maize and Blue. Pat had returned to Kingdom work with a diligence. She had cultivated a Spirit of Service. Her work in the kitchen ministry was exceptional. She worked in that area tirelessly. She could be found in the church kitchen with the kitchen crew almost every Sunday morning preparing breakfast before Sunday School. Frying crispy bacon and savory sausage, buttering toast, sometimes stirring grits and you know she kept the Folger’s flowing! She served it all up with a side of humor and sass! Pat was also a faithful member of Missionary Circle #1, Wednesday Noon Prayer and Bible Study and the Adult Sunday School Class. She checked on the sick with visits and calls, until her own health no longer allowed her to do so. Pat fully embraced John 9:14 "I must work the works of Him who sent me, while it is day. The night is coming when no one can work". NKJV On Thursday, June 21, 2018, as Annette and Sally sat by her bed, Pat heard the Voice of Jesus and her earthly journey was completely. "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish: neither shall anyone snatch them out of MY hand". John 10:27-28 NKJV, All is well with Pat, Mama, Big Mama, and Cousin Pat. Pat is resting safe in the arms of Jesus. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, one sister; Geneva Stallworth, two brothers; Samuel "Bubba" Williams and Exzell "Sonny" Gray, children; Patrick Paul Williams and Yvette Allen, and one nephew; Willie Joe Griffin. While traveling on this journey of life, Pat faced many challenges. Her soul needed and longed for Jesus. She rededicated her life to Christ and stated, "She knew this is where she needed to be." She once again became a faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of her childhood pastor, Rev. A.P. Williams and served faithfully under Rev. Darius Williams until her illness took over. A great cloud of witnesses in Heaven and on Earth rejoiced. Pat leaves to cherish her memory her three devoted children; Annette Williams-Robinson, Deacon Phillip A. Williams and Samuel M. (Traci) Williams, Beita Miles and Shawn K. Williams who she raised and loving called her ,"Mama", a devoted and loving sister; Sally Rowan, her nieces; Donna Livingston, and First Lady Della (Bishop Larry) McClinton, her nephews; Jessie Pearl, and Minister Myron (Pater) Boswell. Pat’s legacy will live on through her grandchildren (who called her Big Mama); Mark T., Tori J, Samuel "Lil Sam", Dionte, Mitch (Katie) Williams, Antuan E. (Mia) Williams, T’Keyah R. (Travis) Collins, Minister Michael D., Ashley P., Bryant Q., Perrette, and Stephanie Brown and her twenty-five great grandchildren. Others who loved and will miss Pat are; her son-in-law; Pastor Michael (Pam) Brown, step mother; Easter Murphy, great nieces; Nakita Thomas, Dominque and Monique McClinton and Geneva Miles, great nephews; Shawn and Josia, one great great niece; Kennedy Palmer "sister"/cousin, Thelma Crosby, her daughter; Minister Monique Hart and granddaughter; Madison Morton, and a host of cousins, friends and her Second Baptist Church Family.
