Ossie V White Sr's Obituary
Ossie V. White, Sr., 88, departed this life on June 1st, 2024. He was born August 25, 1935, in Hugues Arkansas and the first-born child to Jesse and Vicie Lee White.
Ossie attended High School in Haiti Missouri and was a member of the U.S. Army. He also resided in Gobler Missouri and traveled annually with his then Father-in-Law, John E. Parker to Florida and Michigan for seasonal work. He later moved his family to Jackson, MI in 1960, where other family members soon followed suit and relocated from the South to Jackson. He worked several years at O’Hara Construction as a laborer, helping to build many sites around Jackson County. He later went on to work for Goodyear Rubber and Tire and Dial Tool and Machine where he retired from both companies.
In his pastime, Ossie loved playing cards, going fishing, and tending to his garden. He was a great cook and was known for sharing his special dishes and Bar-b-que with family and friends. He enjoyed taking road trips to Kansas City, Missouri to visit his loved ones. You could also catch him sitting on his porch chatting with visitors, watching his favorite western shows, or checking out a good basketball or Tigers baseball game.
He was formerly married to the late Dorothy M. (Parker) White, and they raised eight children together. He was a strong pillar in the Jackson community and was known for supporting his family’s many endeavors.
He was proceeded in death by both parents, sister Arlene Payne, his twin brother Willie B. White, and younger brothers Ralph White and Roy White, Sr. and son, Gary L. Parker.
He leaves to cherish his memories five daughters; Diane (Starlon) Washington, Olivia Belcher, Vera McLemore, Darlene White and Birdias Williams; four sons; Wayne (Beverly) White, Ossie White Jr., Robert White and Maurice White; two sisters-in-law, Leola White and Dorothy White. He also leaves a rich legacy of grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, many neighbors, the Parker Family, and a close friend, Joe Kelly. Ossie was a great provider and was always willing to help others in need. He will be greatly missed.
