Michael Gerald Carson's Obituary
"Wise Beyond Years; A Young Man With An Old Soul”
Michael Gerald Carson was an extraordinary gentleman. You would look at him and see a young man but once he opened up his mouth, you would be amazed by the amount of wisdom that poured out. On October 15, 1987, Michael was born the youngest of nine children in Pontiac, Michigan to the union of Mitchell and Geraldine Carson. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Naomi Carson, Odell Guyton, Bessie (James) Guyton-Smith and other relatives.
Some knew him as G.A. or Gratiot Mike but to his close family and friends, he was little Mikey. Mikey was the youngest in the family so he was everybody’s baby, and we mean everybody! If he called, you came. If he needed something, someone would find a way for him to get it. It was so easy to do anything for him because he always gave unselfishly. He was so full of life and believed in living life to the fullest so he didn’t stay in one place for too long. Wherever he went, he would walk in with that big smile, flashing that one dimple and just light up the room. He was so charismatic, full of humor, outspoken, loyal and he loved his family, especially his children. Michael gave his life to the Lord at an early age. He knew the importance of God and had such a great anointing on his life. He was so talented. He enjoyed writing, rapping and making music; he even thought he could sing. He enjoyed having a good time with his family and friends whether it was at a family gathering or just sitting under his big brother, David. He was a true businessman and a firm believer in being an entrepreneur. He believed in making things happen and taking care of his family. He was a stand up guy! He was no stranger to hard work and loved his children, just like his father. He was so sweet, kind and loving, just like his mother. He was funny, goofy and loved having a good time, just like his siblings. He was also intelligent, active, and independent and he passed that on to his children.
In 2013, Michael met Roshay Hawkins and they began dating; in March 2016, they were married and became one. From their union, Miyanna was born. Michael was a loving husband and father. He loved to cook and often called his daddy for recipes. When he didn’t cook, you could find him in his mother-in-law, “Mom Duke’s” kitchen. He was overprotective and always put family first. Most importantly, Michael was full of love and loved by so many. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His smile and laugh was contagious and that will truly be missed. Michael “our baby” was called home on August 26, 2016 as his assignment on earth was completed. Everything we knew and loved is now being enjoyed by the angels in heaven. Although Mikey is gone in the natural, his spirit is in the presence of the Lord.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife; Roshay Carson, father; Mitchel (Trina) Carson, mother; Geraldine Carson, mother-in-law; Thelma Moore, eight siblings; Michelle (Curtis) Perkins, Melanie Phillips-Horton, Melissa (Keith) Bates, Adam Carson, Brandan Carson, David (Teria) Carson, Michale (Quentin) Carson and Mya-Naomi (Joseph) Shelmonson-Bey, five children; Michael, Jr., Mikaela Sky’lyn, Aedan Xavier, Miyanna Geniyah and Mariah Gabrielle, fourteen nieces and nephews; Ericka, Eric, Elise, Terrance, Naomi, Courtney, Lauryn, Tori, Natayan, Lil David, Aaliyah, Arcadio Jr., Aaron and Tionna, sister-in-law; Sharpay Pruitt, godparents; Gary and Denise Pitts, godbrothers; Santino and Cortez Pitts; and a host of great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
