Mary Frances Jenkins' Obituary
Mary Frances Jenkins got her wings on Saturday, August 15, 2020, at age 90.
Mary was born in Humboldt, Tennessee, lived in Jackson, Michigan and attended Jackson High School.
She accepted Christ at a young age under Reverend Dinkins and Reverend David Scott at High Street Baptist Church, Jackson, Michigan where she served in many auxiliaries of the Church. She was a member of Oasis of Love Full Gospel Church and was affectionately known as “Mother Jenkins”. She often referred to some of the children in the Church as her God kids.
Mary was a homemaker who took pride in rearing her seven children and enjoyed spending time with young boys and girls, mentoring, starting clubs and talent shows. She was known as Mom by many of the neighborhood kids.
Her later years were spent traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband; Eubert Jenkins, parents; Ovest Smith, Sr., and Florence Smith, brother Overt Smith, Jr., and son; Claude Gant.
She leaves to cherish her memories six children; Donna (Ronald) of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Claudine Jiles of Jackson, Michigan, Curtis (Arnita) Smith of Ellenwood, Georgia, Ora Moore of Jackson, Michigan, Wyatt Hampton of Jackson, Michigan , Mary Lee of Aurora, Colorado , two Step –sons; Michael Gant of Jackson, Michigan and Greg Jenkins, Los Angeles, California; eleven grand-children, sixteen great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews cousins and friends.
