Mark L. Jackson's Obituary
Mark Jackson was born on August 24, 1971, in Detroit to James and Audrey
Jackson. Both parents preceded him in passing. Mark was the youngest of
four siblings (James, Carol and Daniel, all preceded him in death) and
received his education through the Detroit Public Schools system, graduating
from Cooley High School in 1991.
The Jackson family was very active in the church and Mark attended and
served at the Spiritual Israel Church and It’s Army as long as his health
permitted.
In 1995, Mark and Jalynda Royster brought into this world a son, Marquis
Jackson. Over the years, Mark’s life was a tapestry woven with threads of
determination, laughter, and boundless love. He worked for a handful of
companies and organizations, and still found time to give back to his
community and help others while battling with sickle cell disease.
In 2001, Mark and at the time 3ancé Denise Murrell were blessed with a
daughter, Marielle Jackson. Over time he shared his love for music, dance
and thirst for knowledge with all those who were fortunate enough to share
in his life’s journey.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Mark. He loved playing
video games (especially Madden and Mortal Kombat), watching sports and
enjoying a quiet evening with friends and family. Mark had an uncanny ability
to make the best out of nothing and always kept a smile that brightened
anyone’s day.
In this rearview re6ection, we celebrate Mark – a cherished father, uncle,
church servant and friend. As we bid him farewell, let us remember the love
he brought into our lives and 3nd solace in the eternal peace of his memory.
In the words of one of his favorite albums, “Wu-Tang Forever” may Mark’s
memory last forever.
Mark is survived by two children: Marielle and Marquis Jackson; two
grandchildren K’mara Jackson and Mason Cotton; one stepbrother Andre
Dumas (Carolyn); one stepsister Roshann Dumas; his nieces, LaTrisha
Jackson, Shontae Davis and Carol La’Shy Jackson Davis; his nephews, Willie
Jackson (Coleatha) and Damien Weathersby; a great niece, Maddison
Jackson; great nephews, Willie Jackson Jr., Devon Jackson and De’Wayne
Jackson; one God brother, James LeRome Carlisle and a host of other
relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
