Marilyn Joyce Mathis' Obituary
Marilyn Joyce Mathis, born July 18, 1946 bringing joy and happiness to the proud parents Charles Shell and Dorothy (Mathis) Tanner (both deceased) Marilyn peacefully passed away January 29, 2024 at Henry Ford Health Jackson surrounded by her loving family.
Marilyn was a loving mother of 4 and a loving sister. She is also processed in death by her step parents Clarence Tanner and Betty Shell, 3-Sisters Janet Bacon, Olivia Shell and Diane Browning, 2-Brothers Clarence Tanner Jr. and Anthony Glaspie.
Marilyn was such a loving lady, she loved and cared for us all. She would say what she meant and meant what she said. She enjoyed family and friends playing cards while talking junk, she loved to shop especially from the clearance rack, loved collecting M&M memorabilia and having conversations that turned into comical, having you cracking up laughing.
Marilyn was a cook at the Jackson County Medical Care Facility for over 20 yrs. until her retirement in 2010.

Marilyn leaves to cherish her memories; 1-Daughter LaVada Allen 3-Son Charles “Spud” (Threasea) Mathis of Cleveland, Ohio, Marshawn Mathis, Gerald Mathis of Jackson, MI 4-Sisters Rosiland (Robert) Stephens, Thelma Shell of Jackson MI. , Crystal Shell Coney of Huntsville, Alabama, Diane Tanner of Lansing, MI 2-Brothers Keith Glaspie and Gerald (Tonya) Tanner of Jackson, MI. Marilyn leaves 19-Grandchildren and 18-Great Grandchildren to continue her legacy. She also leaves a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins
Marilyn extended family special to her heart; Reno and Carol Dedeaux, The Turner Family, Pat Smith, Roger Pearl, Hakim Shabazz, Dalarie Haney and Juanita Morgan. Very Special Cousins Lola and Joey Briston.
