Loretta Mae Shaffer's Obituary
Loretta Mae Shaffer was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on October 11, 1979 to Sharleen Shaffer and Fred Burton, both of whom preceded her in death. She departed this life to be with the Lord on May 29, 2022.
Known to many as "Retta" or "Mae", she was a lifelong resident of Jackson, Michigan. She was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and friend to so many, but first and foremost she was a dedicated mother; Retta treasured and embraced every moment with her daughter.
Retta enjoyed being surrounded by close friends and family. She created lasting memories with her daughter, nieces, and nephews when they were young, playing hide-and-seek in the dark, and setting up picnics in the living room on rainy days.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband; Willie Cook, one daughter; Zaria Love Cook, two brothers; Fred W. Shaffer (Lakisha), and Benjamin Shaffer, one sister; Wendy Shaffer and many nieces and nephews, as well as great-nephews and a great niece; Aubrey Brown-Shaffer, DeeDee Long-Smith, Ty’Esha Hunt, Katrice Peterson, Fred Markee Shaffer, Malachi Hicks, Fred W. Shaffer, Myliah Shaffer, Keaira Shaffer, Keira Shaffer, Kayden Shaffer, Judah Smith, Nehemiah Cyprian, Izra-Azrael, and Isla-Brielle.
Retta was taken too soon. She loved life and fought to live it. She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.
