Levi Johnson, Jr.'s Obituary
Levi Johnson Jr. was born on March 1, 1937 in Greenwood, Mississippi to the late Annie Bell and Levi Johnson, Sr. fondly called "Junior" by his family, he was the third child of twelve children. He confessed Christ at an early age.
His parents moved to River Rouge, Michigan where he attended Union Second Missionary Baptist Church. Levi was educated in the River Rouge Public School System. While in high school he enjoyed running track and being part of the track team. In 1955, Levi graduated from River Rouge High School. As an adult Levi was employed with several companies but his greatest passion was driving taxi cabs. Eventually, he purchased his own taxi cab and drove it for over ten years until his health failed. Levi had a great love for meeting and talking to people. He was always remembered wherever he went due to his ability to carry on conversation with just about anyone.
He met and married the love of his life Jean Martin on January 12, 1959. To this union, eight children were born: Sophia, Lavell (deceased), Orrin, Myra, Kevin, Yvette, Angeline and Bernadine.
In his leisure time Levi enjoyed drawing and putting together model cars. In his later years, he especially enjoyed being around family particularly during the holidays.
He leaves to cherish in his loving memory, his five daughters; Sophia, Myra (Orlando), Yvette (Jessie), Angeline and Bernadine, two sons; Kevin and Orrin (Kelly) seven grandsons; Giovanni, Justin, Jordan, Austin, Grant, Jessie and Joel, five granddaughters; Devon, Stephanie, Ashley, Kourtney and Jessica, seven sisters; Carolyn (Nathaniel), Marilyn, Doris, Brenda, Shirley, Valorie (Hiram), and Ronda, one brother; Brian (Rhonda), three siblings who proceeded him in death; Doretha, Henry, Armead, two sister-n-laws; Carol and Elizabeth, one brother-in-law; John and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
