John Sanford Castleman, age 75, departed this life to bewith his Savior on October 28th, 2019. John was born June 15th, 1944 inDetroit, Michigan to George W. and Louise Castleman. Preceding him in death were his parents; George and Louise Castleman,brothers; George W. Castleman and David L. Castleman. John is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals,including National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medalwith four Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal;Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm; Combat Infantryman badge;Army Commendation Medal; Good Conduct Medal; and Armed ForcesExpeditionary Medal. He also toured Panama, Korea and Germany. Hewas honorably discharged after 14 years of service as a sergeant. He grewup in Inkster, Michigan and was the second eldest of six children. John enjoyed art, fishing, traveling and football was his number one sport.He often times could be found cooking and/or trying to tell someone elsehow to cook. With a smile on his face he enjoyed being around his familyand friends sharing stories, jokes and laughs. John was a sharp dresseralways matching from head to toe. John accepted Christ as his Lord andSavior and became a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church inMay of 2016. John leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter; Shawn Tannette Williams,three grandchildren; Ashley and Brittany Williams and Jaden Wade, twogreat-grandchildren; Aniyah Jones and Brelyn Williams, his brother;William (Sonia) Castleman, two sisters; Jacqueline Castleman and TeresaCastleman and host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
