Jewel Pearl Edwards' Obituary
Jewel Pearl Edwards, a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and beloved
friend passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at the age of 76 after a second strenuous battle
with cancer.
Jewel Edwards was born on December 12, 1943 to Annie Mae James (Edwards) and Willie
Edwards in Selma, Alabama. Her family moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1945 where she attended
school and later started a family.
Jewel was a faithful member of Solomon’s Temple and a spiritual support to many friends and
family members. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time playing backgammon
and Nintendo with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. There was never a dull
moment while in her presence and her sweet spirit carried with it warmth and peace.
Jewel was preceded in death by her father; Willie Edwards, mother; Annie Mae Edwards, sister;
Joyce Ann Edwards, brothers; James and Arthur “Billy” Edwards, grandsons; Raheem Edwards
and Eric Sadler, great-granddaughter; Jayla Sadler, and nephew; James Edwards.
Jewel leaves precious memories in the hearts of her brother; Samuel Edwards, children;
Jennifer Edwards, Jacqueline (Shawn) McGowan, Joyce Edwards, and Jwynza Edwards. Her
grandchildren; Gregory (Ashley) Smith, Jennifer Edwards, Jimmie Sadler IV, Shawn McGowan
Jr., Renee (Amnon) Broden, Bryant (Elaine) Branch, Andre Cooper, Kardeem Branch, Shakira
Branch, Darrell Holcomb, Trey Edwards, and Sha’ Ann Branch. Lastly, her great grandchildren;
Javion Edwards, Nai’Jae Edwards, Allysa Edwards, NaVeah Cooper, Elaine Branch, Janaya
Sadler, Deonte Farris, Andre Cooper Jr., Ebony Sadler, Skyla Branch, Nioka Edwards, Jordan
Sadler, Isabella Branch, Leila Branch, Gregory Smith III, Mariah Michalski, and Ananias
Broden, and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren, cousins and close friends.
