Janet was a strong, fierce women, and believed honestly was important regardless of whether it was popular. She had previously worked at Todoroffs, Virgina Coney Island, and the 145-Auto Truck Plaza. Janet loved to listen to music, watch her “shows” and play bingo. If she was not at work or at home, she was more than likely down at the Eagles on Detroit St. This was a hobby she continued even after her health started to decline.
For the last ten years Janet was a resident of the Jackson County Medical Care Facility, where she had touched the lives of many staff and residents. You would often see her sitting in the hallway by her room “people watching” or taking part in one of the many activities, especially playing Bingo. Janet loved old time country music such as Johnny Cash, Earnest Tubb, Loretta Lynn, and Patsy Cline (just to name a few). This was something Tabitha would often play during her weekly visits to keep Janets mood up and help her with memories. If you ever had the pleasure of meeting her, you knew she was going to tell you exactly what was on her mind, whether you wanted to hear it or not. This was one of the many things everyone loved about her (Oh…Well Shit – was sure to be heard when you had a conversation with Janet).
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for monetary donations to help cover the cost associated with cremation and the celebration of life. A Go-Fund me page has been created for those who wish and are able to contribute.
The Celebration of Life dinner will take place on April 12th, 2024, at the Michigan Center Eagles at 3 PM. Michigan Center Eagles is located at 302 5th St. (next door to the Dairy Queen). The family is asking anyone who can, please bring a passing dish to share!
