Gloria Jean Watson's Obituary
Gloria Jean Watson was born on August 6, 1949 to the union of the late Price Adams, Jr. and the late Carlee Williams Adams in Jackson, Michigan. She was the oldest of three children. Her siblings are Carolyn and Joe Lee (Joey).
Gloria was a life-long resident of the Jackson community where she was reared among a very close knitted family. She attended Jackson High School and went on later to pursue an associate degree from Jackson Community College.
Gloria loved life! She loved her family, her friends and she had many hobbies which included fishing oft times with her late mother Carlee. Her passion was interior decoration, as long as the colors of black and gold were the central theme.
Her family was her pride and joy. She welcomed the birth of her first child, a daughter, the late Theresa Ann Adams. She would later be united in marriage to the late Lerone Watson, Sr. and to this union was born Zena, Lerone, Jr., and Leslie Nicole.
Later in life she was united in marriage to the late Rev. B.R. Mathenia, who was at that time the pastor of New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, and she would go on to serve as the “First Lady” and remained so until his passing. She served her church and the Jackson Community in many capacities.
On Sunday, November 27, 2016 the evening shadows of life fell. Gloria, a phenomenal woman in her own right found sweet rest at last. We will rejoice in her having lived!!
