Farmer Wright's Obituary
Wright (Pete) Farmer was born on March 7, 1931 in Caruthersville Missouri. He was the son of Sonny and Elsie Wright. On Saturday, July 6, 2019, Farmer Wright exchanged his earthly home for his heavenly home, peacefully at the age of 88. Pete was preceded in death by his parents; Sonny and Elsie Wright, brother; Rance Wright and daughter; Bonnie Hudson. Pete was self-employed and owned and operated Pete Auto Body Shop for many years. He was very active in sports, but his passion was boxing. Pete was instrumental in promoting amateur boxing in Jackson and surrounding area. He was a manager a founder and coach. He inspired many of Jacksons youths boys and girls, men and women over his lifetime. He was the creator of Hawkins Boxing Club. Pete fondly remembered the days when Golden Glove tournaments were held at Jackson County Building before standing room crowds only. Farmer is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Lorraine Wright; one son, Tony (Chris) Williamson, four daughters; Fernetta Wright Kelly, Roselyn Renee Wright, Debra Kay (Reggie) Chambers, and Trudy (Damond) Williams, Pete leaves behind six grandchildren, five greatgrandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and two sister-in-law’s; Ella Mae Terrell of Lansing, Michigan and Ruby Dixon of Albion, Michigan and host of nieces, nephews and friends.
