Elmer John Warren's Obituary
Elmer John Warren was born on April 16, 1961 to Elmer and Mary Margaret Warren in Detroit, Michigan. Elmer was the eighth child, and the only
son. He attended St. Catherine’s and St. Edward’s Elementary Schools in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1979. He attended Highland Park Community College and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Western Michigan University in 1987.
Elmer was employed with the State of Michigan since 1988. He was currently employed as an Information Technology Specialist with the Department of Management and Budget Information Technology.
Elmer gave his life to the Lord in 1985. He has faithfully served the Lord since that time. He attended the Church of God in Jackson, Michigan and served in various capacities as Sound Recording Technician, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Choir Member. Elmer not only had a form of Godliness, but he was completely sold out and dedicated to the Lord.
Elmer married the love of his life, Michele Yvonne Robinson, on October 20, 1990. To this union were born eight beautiful children: Jonathan Elmer, Taylor Michele, Melissa Marie, Austin Bradley, Ean Jacob, Benjamin Michael and Daniel Walter. Their first born daughter, also named Melissa, died at birth. Elmer loved his family and worked diligently to ensure that they were well taken care of.
Bro. John, as many called him, went to be with the Lord on September 1, 2017 after battling a long term digestive illness. He trusted God until the end. He fought a good fight, he finished his course, he kept the faith and is now enjoying the beauties of heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Margaret Warren; his eldest daughter, Melissa Warren; four sisters, Lorraine Taggart, Marie Warren, Hattie Warren and Theresa Flanagan.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of almost 27 years, Michele Yvonne Warren; seven children, Jonathan Elmer, Taylor Michele, Melissa Marie, Austin Bradley, Ean Jacob, Benjamin Michael and Daniel Walker Warren.
He also leaves to cherish his memory five sisters, Mary (Frank) Wright of Antioch, California, Bernadette Barnett of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Veronica Warren of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Christine Boyer of Masa, Arizona and Clementine (Eric) Taylor of Aurora, Colorado; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and family.
