Elizabeth Eberhardt's Obituary
Elizabeth (Liz) Garrett, youngest of nine children was born September 19, 1940 to the late Joe Lee and Soloan Garrett in Phenix City, Alabama.
Elizabeth attended Greusel Jr. High, North Eastern High School, and the Wayne County Community College District in Detroit Michigan. Elizabeth accepted Christ at an early age. She worshiped the Lord at Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church for many years under Rev. A.L. Manning. She later became anchored in the Lord as a member of Perfecting Church, under the leadership of Bishop Marvin Winans; she faithfully served the Lord as an Usher, and in the Joyful Noise Choir
Elizabeth was swept off her feet by Mr. Ervin Lumpkin and together they became the proud parents of a son Cedric Garrett.Elizabeth later met and married her soul mate Mr. James Eberhardt. To this union a daughter was born and soon passed away after birth.
Elizabeth was very independent, wouldn’t let grass grow under her feet. She loved God, doing hair, and wearing fancy clothes. Liz also loved a good party, family, friends, butterflies and herself. E lizabeth was a Quality Control Inspector and the first black women to ever work for Paramount Fabricating Company. After Paramount she worked for other companies, like Olympia Plastics, Johnson Control (High Low Driver), Chuck Millionaires Lounge (Barmaid), Strategic Security (Security Guard), Jovonnes Lounge (waitress), and as a Poll Worker for the Department of Elections.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by; David Lee Garret, Rosie Love, Lillian Rue, Rev. Moses Garrett and Susie Cowels.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories; her son, Cedric Garrett, brother; Eddie Lee Garrett, brother-in-law; Earl E. Van Buren, a special niece; LaTonza Van Buren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, longtime friends and other family members.
