Eleanore Elaine Jones-Mathis' Obituary
Eleanore Elaine VanBuren was born on December 2, 1948 to the union of Earl and Claudette VanBuren. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was educated in the Detroit Public School system where she met and later married Joe Willie Jones II and to that union six children were born. Daneen VanBuren, Joe Willie III, Curtis, Dorion, Eleanore Jr. and Winston Jones. Eleanore made her transition on Friday, November 13, 2015.
Eleanore's passion and life calling was that of a Beautician. She graduated from Cosmotology school and later opened her own salon, which she named after her mother. Under her professionalism and expertise, "Claudette's Hair Studio" prospered for many years on Detroit's east side until Eleanore retired. After retirement, she gladly embraced a new career of caring for her family members who needed it. She always enjoyed doing things with and for the family, like cooking for family events, family reunions, shopping with the family, going fishing and being by the water.
Preceding Eleanore in transition are her mother Claudette King, Stepmother Carrie Pearl VanBuren, three sons Joe Willie III, Curtis and Dorian Jones, two brothers James Hood and Earl Lamont VanBuren, one sister Marie Hood, two grandsons Andrew Montgomery and DeAndre Brown.
Eleanore leaves behind many friends, clients and family members to cherish her loving memory. Of those family members is her husband Bruce Mathis, her loving and devoted father Earl Edward VanBuren, two daughters Deneen VanBuren (David Hardy) and Eleanore Jones, one son Winston Jones, two sisters Clora Garrette (Jeremiah Garrette) and Latonza VanBuren, four brothers David VanBuren, Christopher VanBuren (Wendy VanBuren), Labaran VanBuren and Robert Lee Hood and a host of grandchildren, great grand children, nieces, nephews and other family members.
