Earnest Lee Waters Curtis' Obituary
Earnest Lee Waters was born on September 23, 1959 at Northwest
Mississippi Regional Medical Center in Clarksdale, Mississippi to Bernice Curtis
Herring and Robert Stewart.
She attended Higgins Jr. High School located in Clarksdale, Mississippi and also
attended Coahoma Agricultural High School Located in Clarksdale, Mississippi.
After graduating from high school she later moved to Chicago, Illinois. She decided
to further her education and attended Kenny King College. Earnest loved her family
and was looking for a change so she moved her family to Jackson, Michigan for a
better living. She worked several jobs to provide for her family and very often helped
single parents by providing child care needs. Earnest was well known throughout the
community, People often referred to her as Mama or Mama E.
She loved cooking, cleaning, listening to music and gardening. She also loved making
everyone feel at home as well as keeping a smile on their face. She was the queen
of many things especially cheering people up as she enjoyed cracking jokes. Earnest
really loved spending time with her family and seeing them happy. Earnest gave her life
to the lord and was baptized on June 11, 2012.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Nakeya Waters, Cody Waters Jones,
Curtis Bridges Jr., her mother; Bernice Curtis Herring, her brother; Eddie Curtis, her
grandchildren; Maurice Knighten, Marquis Knighten, and Nia king, her greatgrands;
Amarii Nakeya Knighten, Marquis Knighten, Jr., Cassius Knighten, the love of her
life and companion of 29 years; Curtis Bridges, Sr., her aunts; Beatrice Curtis (whom
she called mom), Mamie Curtis Griffin, Josephine Curtis Wilder, Gracie Curtis, her
uncle; Calvin Curtis her two best friends Dallarie Haney and Wanda Beavers a Host of
godchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins....
She was preceded in death by her father; Robert Stewart, her sister; Alberta Burnett
Thomas and her daughter; Bernice Angela Renee Hill. Although Earnest has departed
this life, she will forever live in our hearts.
