Earle Esmond Powell, Jr.'s Obituary
Earle Esmond Powell Jr, son of Earle Esmond and Anna Virginia, was born on April 11, 1926 in Charleston, West Virginia. His family moved to Detroit a few years later, and he attended Detroit Public Schools and the Eastside Church of God. He later joined the US Navy, where he was honorably discharged in 1946. He met his wife, Gloria Kathleen Robinson, at Northwest Church of God and to that union, two daughters were born – Janis and Pamela. Earle and Gloria were happily married for over 65 years.
After a successful career as a Wayne County Court Officer, Earle retired and spent his remaining years much as he had done for all of his life – doing the Lord’s work.
Earle enjoyed his life and his many years as a deacon, choir member, and all-around church servant. He truly embodied the scripture “whatever your hands find to do, do it.”
Earle leaves to cherish his memory his wife; Kathleen Powell, two daughters; Janis Smith and Pamela Jackson; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two brothers.
Mother Powell and her family thank all of the people who generously gave their time and well wishes in order to assure the family that they are appreciative of Earle’s good works.
