Derrick Holmon's Obituary
Derrick Duane Holmon, Sr. was born August 19, 1966 to Kathy Holmon and Benjamin Hall in Chicago, Illinois. Preceding him in death is his mother; Kathy, his brother; Dewan Holmon, his son; Derrick D. Holmon, Jr; nephew; DeAnte Beard, aunts; Cecilia Carson and Carmen Guinn, his grandmothers; Lillian Pearl Williams and Dorothy Robinson, his grandfathers; Sylvester Holmon, Sr. and Benjamin Hall, Sr. Derrick gained his wings on Saturday, September 5, 2020.
Derrick graduated from Everett High School in 1984, in Lansing, Michigan, and attended Kalamazoo College for a short period. He served in the United States Army from 1984 to 1987; with an additional two years in the Army Reserves. He later worked at Jackson All Star Dairy making ice cream for nearly five years, before becoming disabled. Everyone knew Derrick for his love of family, basketball and sports in general.
Derrick leaves to cherish his legacy, his five children; Brandon, AnDante, Catherine, Tatyanna and AnDreas Holmon, his father; Benjamin Ali, three sisters; Dana Holmon, Angela Paschall and Tamika Foster, one brother; Damien Hall, one aunt; Jacqueline Little of Richmond, Virginia, two uncles; Ronald and Michael Guinn of Jackson, Michigan and a very special uncle; Sylvester Holmon, Jr. of Atlanta, Georgia, who was very instrumental in his life, two grandsons; Ramiere Holmon and Javier DeLeon, his extremely close cousins; Sylvester III, Lee, Clarence, Omaro, Wendy, Cherie, Angie, Lakia and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Derrick was son, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin and friend to many. He was especially cherished by his cousin, Delron Hall, special friends; Richard Anderson and Todd Bridges who always made sure Derrick had
