Delores Whetstone's Obituary
Delores (Harris) Whetstone went home on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 under the care of Henry Ford Allegiance Health Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. Delores was born on October 27, 1934 in Osceola, Arkansas. She was one of nine children born to Sylvester and Mozzell Harris.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Carlee Brown, Annie Osborne, Candis Hollis, and Rosa Thorton, husband; James Whetstone, daughter; Roxie Ann Harris, son; Delbert Gaylord, and great grandson; Ashton Parker and her brother-in-law; Clifton Hollis.
Delores united in love with James Whetstone, Jr. on August 15, 1970. Delores worked for Corney’s Glass, and Jackson County Medical Care Facility for 30 plus years, where she later retired from in 1994.
Delores was a long time member of New Macedonia Baptist Church, where she was a part of the nurse ministry and on the Mother Board. She had many things she enjoyed doing which included bowling, going to the casino with her grandson, bingo, sewing, crocheting, playing Tripoli and cards with her sisters and friends, and listening to the blues.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters; Rosalyn (William) Range of Jackson, Michigan, Maryann Whetstone of Macon, Georgia, and son; James Whetstone of Jackson, Michigan, two sisters; Gwen Pryor and Ruthann (Patrick) Edwards of Jackson, Michigan, two brothers; Robert Harris and Gerome Harris of Jackson, Michigan, two brother-in-law’s; Bill (Joni) Whetstone of Battle Creek, Michigan and Jesse Whetstone of Albion, Michigan, twelve grandchildren; William III, Jamaka, Carlos (Nicole), Keyonnie, Karanja (Jennifer), LaToya(Darren), Aisha (Antonio), Angelo, Latese (Erin), Kenisha (Jamal), Keijuan; Maurice, twenty-four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many relatives. The family would like to acknowledge a bonus granddaughter Keisha Davis, longtime friends Ella Jean Oliver and Shirley Bacon, Godson Jeff Oliver, and special friend Carmen Long.
