David M. Priestly, Jr.'s Obituary
DAVID (BUBBIE) MELVIN PRIESTLY JR. was born December 16, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to David Melvin Priestly, Sr. and the late Ida Jeanette Johnson who preceded him in death, and whom he loved dearly.
Bubbie as he was affectionately called confessed Christ at an early age at Third Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend T. H. Carter.
Bubbie excelled in the Detroit Public School System and graduated at the age of sixteen. Bubbie continued his education at Michigan State University and earned a Bachelor’s Degree as an Electronics Engineer. Having an established career in engineering he was also a self-employed businessman in California for over 30 years with a successful business in Accounting, specializing in Tax Preparation.
Bubbie married Debra Ann Funderburg on May 1, 1976 and to this union three sons were born: David, Dylan and Demetrius. Bubbie was a loving caring man who enjoyed spending time with his family by traveling, sightseeing, going to the movies and enjoying Mott’s Hamburgers in Delray.
Bubbie leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife; Debra Ann Priestly, sons; David, III, Dylan and Demetrius Priestly, father; David Melvin Priestly, Sr., three grandsons; Davion, Donovan and Aiden, siblings; Sharon (Randy) Priestly, Alicia Simmons (Walter), Terrence Priestly, Todd Priestly, Dion (Pollie), LaTonya Coney, Ernest Johnson, Douglas Johnson and Samartra Johnson, step-brothers and step-sisters, and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws, friends and a very special mother-in law; Ernestine Funderburg.
