David James Jenkins, Jr.'s Obituary
David James Jenkins Jr. was born on June 11, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. David was the first born to the union of David Jenkins Sr. and Alice Mae Jenkins.
David moved with his family from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Detroit in 1958. The following year, David graduated from Northwestern High School. After graduating, David entered the United States Air Force where he served for four years.
David worked at Dodge Main for over ten years. David also drove a cab and became a custodian for several establishments. David also worked on the election commission as a supervisor for quite a few years.
On December 26, 1966, David married Carolyn Bennett of Chicago, Illinois. To this union two children were born; Michael Anthony and Monica Yvette.
David loved to take pictures, play all kinds of games and bake cakes. His specialty was lemon pound cake. He got his favorite recipe from Mrs. Wilda White who was a friend of the family.
David joined United Temple Church of God in Christ and served as a choir member. On special occasions David would send cards or call relatives and special friends. He was a quiet person, but spoke up when he needed to. He served as on the committee at Ecorse Manor.
David passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents; David and Alice, and his son; Michael. David is survived by his daughter, Monica Yvette Jenkins and his daughter-in-law; Doletta Jenkins and grandson; Gabriel Michael, three siblings; Sally R. Stewart (Robert), Robert D. Jenkins and Sanford L. Jenkins (Vera), and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, special friends and the Ecorse Manor Community.
