Daryl Murrie, Sr.'s Obituary
Daryl Murrie was the first born to Patricia A. Murray and Robert
M. Smoot (who preceded him in death on January 9, 1968. He was born at Detroit
Memorial Hospital. He and his step-dad Willie Grace bonded when he was just about
2 years old. Daryl departed this life at home with his family in Detroit at the age of 52.
Daryl attended Southeastern High School but left there and went to Job Corps in
Cleveland, Ohio where he took up a trade in carpentry. Daryl later returned to Detroit
where he met and married his beautiful wife Pauline Jones on February 19, 1963 of
27 years. From that union they had two sons; Daryl Murrie Jr. and Deangelo Murrie.
Daryl also had one older son Dontae King and, two grandchildren; Kai and Sarai
King.
After a life changing accident at the young age of 26 which left Daryl confined to a
wheel chair he made big changes in his life for himself and his family. Daryl was a great
stay at home dad and husband as time went on Daryl found out that he was really good
a buying and trading cars and other things on the web. He bought his family a home and
praise God he had finished paying for it a few years ago. His passion was mentoring
young people about staying away from the streets especially his relatives. There was
nothing he wouldn’t do for you.
Daryl was loved by many and all that met him. Daryl leaves to cherish his memory, a
loving wife; Pauline Murrie, three sons; Dontae King, Daryl Murrie, Jr. and DeAngelo
Murrie, one sister; Deborah R. Murrie (Mario) and a brother; Benjamin F. Henry also
five half-brothers and five half-sisters (one which preceded him in death). Daryl knew
the Lord and liked attending his mother’s church Jos Campau Ave. Church of God
when he was able.
