Claude Cornell Gant's Obituary
LIFE REFLECTIONS On Saturday, June 9, 2018, at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital, Jackson, Michigan, God sent an angel to end the earthly journey of CLAUDE CORNELL GANT. Claude was born August 17, 1952 in Jackson, Michigan to the late Howard Gene and Mary Francis Gant. Claude was a graduate of Parkside High School, Jackson, Michigan, class of 1970. Claude enlisted in the United States Air Force for Four Years as a Security Specialist. After his honorable discharge, Claude served in the reserve for two additional years. Claude was employed with the State of Michigan Department of Corrections shortly thereafter. Claude accepted Christ at an early age and was brought up in High Street Baptist Church. Claude had a great sense of humor, which he demonstrated during his brief illness. His hobby was fishing which he learned to do as a youth with his grandfather Ovest Smith. Claude was preceded in death by his father; Howard Gene Gant, Grandparents Johnny and Leander Gant, and Ovest and Florence Smith. He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved mother; Mary Francis Jenkins (Jackson, Michigan), a son; Kalani Gant (Salt Lake City, Utah), a daughter; Ramona Gant-Mathis (Joseph) (Jackson, Michigan, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, brothers; Michael Gant (Jackson, Michigan), Rev. Curtis Smith (Arnette), Ellenwood, Georgia, Wyatt R Hampton (Jackson, Michigan), sisters; Donna Rice (Ronald) Stone Mountain, Georgia, Claudine Jiles, Ora Moore (Jackson, Michigan) Mary Lee Aurora, Colorado, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends, a special friend; Gloria Payne, best friend; Sylvester Holmes (Atlanta, Georgia) and a devoted niece; Erica Parker (Jackson, Michigan).
