Charles Edwards, Sr.'s Obituary
On Monday, June 6, 2016, Charles Edwards went to be with Lord at the age of 79 years old. He was born in Jackson, Michigan on January 19,1937, to the late George and Stella Edwards. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife; Effie Mae Edwards, son; Charles George Edwards, six brothers; Henry, Oneil, Harvey, Larry, Bruce, and George, two sisters; Edith and Ida Mae, and grandson; Brazzie Scott Young.
Charles retired from the Jackson County Road Commission in the late eighties. He was also employed as a supervisor at C&C Ranch for many years as a horse trainer. Charles inherited the trade from his Father, George Edwards, and in turn then passed his love of horses on to his two sons, Melvin and Charles George.
Being in many rodeos, horse shows, parades and fairs they were able to show off their expertise in the training of their horses. Charles had such a love and understanding of horses that he could talk to a wild horse and make him tame, and then he would ride it. Many others that he worked with didn’t have that gift, and it amazed his co-workers, as well as other horse trainers. He is, and was, a true black cowboy that was very well known in Michigan, and throughout many states along with his Father, George Edwards.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories his sister; Lucille Johnson of Jackson, Michigan, three sons; Clyde (Marggie) Williams of Fulton, Kentucky, Jerome Evans, and Melvin Evans, three daughters; Rose Conner, Davada (Robert) Langston, and Lucille (Michael) Reynolds, all of Jackson, Michigan, twelve grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
