Arlene “Pookie” Woods, 52, of Jackson, Michigan was born on July 9th, 1964 to James Edmond, Sr. and Bernice Woods in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
Pookie attended Benton Harbor area schools before moving to Jackson in 1989 with her three daughters. Over the past 27 years Pookie worked at several different companies, and for the past three years, she took great care of her elderly mother.
She was always there for family and friends and kept her heart and home open to those in need. Pookie helped wherever she was needed. She was a single mother to her three beautiful girls, a loving and devoted grandmother, a loyal daughter, a funny sister, a cool aunt, a down to earth cousin, and an awesome friend!
Pookie was preceded in death by her father; James Edmond Woods, Sr., brother; Johnny Ray Carpenter, her grandson, her nephew; Nathaniel Cooks, Jr., and her niece; Angela Pettis.
She leaves to cherish her fun, loving memory her mother; Bernice Woods, three daughters; Kwanna Woods, Twanna Woods, and Ebony (Linnon) Washington, her fiancé; Melvin White, seven sisters; Shelia Carpenter, Sherry Carpenter, Carol Pettis, Inez Prather (Leon), Demetris Woods, Tiffany Smoot, and Danielle Smoot, six brothers; Johnny Woods (Joyce), Larry Brooks, James Woods, Timothy Woods, Antonio Woods (Sharon), and Bobby J. Smoot, nine grandchildren; AajaNay, Kiannah, Ricky, Jr. William, Jr., Rickiyah, Alexis, Joey, Baby Nigaylin, and Ai’Jaina (Na-Na), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
