Aninece Blackmon's Obituary
Aninece C. Blackmon was born September 15, 1935 to President Hezekiah Garfield Rice and Johnny Bell BoBo Rice in Spartanburg, South Carolina both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her second oldest daughter Angela Rae Blackmon.
Aninece was known and called by most of her family and longtime friends as Anise, momma to her daughters and granny or Mother Blackmon to most who knew her. In 1954 she moved to Michigan with her eldest daughter Brenda Rice. She later met and married Harvie Blackmon and from this union four children were born; Angela Blackmon, Bonita Blackmon, Harvetta Blackmon and Sheronda Blackmon.
Aninece accepted Christ at a young age. She attended Greater Grace Temple then Universal Cathedral of faith later joining True Gospel Tabernacle Church under the late Larry Dallas, currently under the leadership of Pastors Roderick and LaShawn Dallas. She served as an usher and loved to cook in the kitchen.
Aninece worked hard all of her life. She told stories of her childhood picking cotton and peaches in South Carolina. She worked various jobs including housekeeping and laundry manager at Lasher Hills Nursing Home (retired). She later came out of retirement and worked for 6 years as a laundry aide at Cambridge East Nursing Home.
Aninece loved music and sang with her brothers and sisters in churches growing up in South Carolina. She loved to dance and would be found at many family events entertaining the children performing “Billie Jean” by Michael Jackson. She also loved to attend church, cook, read and visit with family.
She leaves to cherish her memories four daughters; Brenda Barnes, Bonita Hayes, Harvetta (Kelly) Branch and Sheronda Blackmon, ten grandchildren; Johnny (Claudia) Barnes, Issac Barnes, Harvie Blackmon, Brandon (Hannah) Blackmon, Bria Blackmon, Danesha Blackmon, Kamesha Blackmon, Gabrielle Letbetter, Daniel Gates, and Amber Gates, five great grandchildren; Destiny Bell, Nadia Barnes, Precious Barnes, Khylie Lewis and Aiden Terrell, plus three bonus grandchildren; Latoya, Ruthell and Rodney Irving, two sisters; Wilma Culberson and Grace Walton and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins across the USA.
