We just learned of Alvie's passing via the recent death of his mother, Helen. Alvie was a "gentleman and a scholar" and was always nice to visit with. I knew him at Save-A-Lot and our family had lived on Larry's Drive with his family. Aaron and our son Eric were school friends. A very helpful, informed and nice man. He could tell where in the store what you were looking for was and take you to the aisle that the item was located. I remember Alvie from our Junior High days at East Intermediate through our Senior High days at JHS. Alvie was always the most kind, always had a smile and a friendly young guy. Dressed to the 9s and very smart. RIP former classmate of 1966!
Alvie was our neighbor. He always had a smile and we had many good conversations over the fence in our backyards. He truly did love fishing with Aaron. He raised three great kids and was deeply loved by them and by his grandchildren. He is going to be greatly missed by many. He was such a kind and caring man. He was genuine. RIP Alvie! ❤

I am so saddened by Alvies passing. I first met Alvie at Save-a-Lot in downtown Jackson back in the 60s/70s. I worked at Consumers Energy and would frequent his store where I was always greeted by Alvie. He was always so pleasant and helpful. Shortly thereafter, I discovered I married one of his classmates which gave us another funny topic of conversation. My husband, Gary, and I would see Alvie at the Jackson High class reunions where we engaged in more conversations. We were lucky enough to sit with him at the 50th Class Reunion. Alvie was always such a gentlemen and one of the nicest men I ever met. Rest In Peace Alvie; the world was a better place with you in it. Soar with the angels my friend!
I didnt know Mr. Dungy but I have the privilege of knowing his son, Aaron, and Mr. Dungy must have been an awesome man and father to have raised a man of Aarons caliber. Well done, Sir. God bless your family as they grieve your home going. I pray for them at this time.
