Alice Ruth Smith's Obituary
Alice Ruth Smith (Lawson) was born April 19, 1931 to Mr. & Mrs. Eddie and Ruby Lawson in Quitman, Mississippi, one of ten children.
At an early age Alice accepted Christ as her Savior. Alice joined in holy matrimony to Mr. Thomas Smith thru this union they had six children.
Alice relocated to Jackson, MI with her family. She was employed at Foote Hospital until her retirement. She became a member of Southside Baptist Church.
Alice loved spending time with her family, of whom she spoke highly of. She also enjoyed going to church, baking, going to and watching sporting events, and playing cards. Alice departed from life on January 23, 2017 at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan with her loving family at her side.
Alice is preceded in death by her parents; Eddie and Ruby Lawson, husband; Thomas Smith, brother; Willie Lawson, sisters; Betty Lawson and Rosie Smith, one grandson; Kevin Powell, one great-great granddaughter; Zamiyah Phelps, and great-great grandson; Denray Robinson Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children; Thomas (Darlene) Smith, Pat Edwards of Jackson Michigan, Billy (Mary) Smith of Arizona, Mary Alice Smith, Alvena (Charles) Pitts, Jeanette (Darren) Breedlove, all of Jackson Michigan, her brothers; Billy Lawson of Quitman, Mississippi, Samuel Lawson, Walter(Peggy) Lawson, Eugene (Louise) Lawson all of Chicago, Illinois, and sisters; Mary {Lewis) Burson of Fort Worth, Texas and Minnie Pearl {Richard) Brooks of Kalamazoo, Michigan. She also leaves behind a host of loving grandchildren, a numerous amount of great-grands and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, as well as two special friends; Freddie and Nora Young.
