Alan Ladell Fleming's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alan Ladell Fleming of Jackson, Michigan, who departed this life on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at the age of 72. Alan leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with family, friends, and all who knew him.Alan was born in Newport News, Virginia, to the late Alvin and Janie L. Fleming. He later moved to Jackson, Michigan, where he attended Jackson Public Schools and Battle Creek Central High School, graduating with the Class of 1971. Alan continued his education at Western Michigan University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1975.A devoted man of faith, Alan was a lifelong member of the AME Church in Jackson, Michigan, where his presence and fellowship were deeply valued.Throughout his career, Alan held management positions with several well-known companies, including Burger King, Pizza Hut, Miller Brewing Company, Frito-Lay, Meijer, and Battle Creek Central High School. During his time at Battle Creek Central, he especially cherished the relationships he built with Fred Jones and Greg Williams.Alan was a man of many talents. One of his greatest passions was photography. Known to many as “Mr. Alan’s Pictures,” he had a remarkable eye for capturing special moments and beautiful images that will continue to live on through his work.Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Janie L. and Alvin Fleming; his brother, Terrance Fleming; his grandmother, Helen Bobo (1915–2015); and a special uncle, Jesse Fleming (“Big Jess”).He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughter, Nichole Fleming Carr (Zach) of Chicago, Illinois; his grandson, Jaden Carr of Chicago, Illinois; his brother, Michael Fleming (Carmen) of Lansing, Michigan; and his nieces Michaela Fleming of Lansing, Michigan; Shana Fleming and Levi Fleming Daniel of Kenosha, Wisconsin.Alan is also lovingly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, including Fred Lewis and family, his best friends Ron “Mac” McDonald and Wanda Faye Freeze, as well as his Jackson breakfast companions Harold “Jock” White, Ted Jones, Mr. Booker Walker, and the rest of the crew with whom he greatly enjoyed spending time.Alan’s kindness, humor, and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
