Aamar Marshawn Harrell's Obituary
Born on August 12, 2004, to his devoted parents, Mario and Melissa McClinton-Harrell, Aamar Marshawn Harrell stood as a beacon of dedication, love, and unwavering commitment. With the wisdom that often belied his age, Aamar seamlessly navigated the roles life bestowed upon him. In the heart of a large family, he was both the fiercely competitive younger brother to Law, Mario, Koronius, Ayden, Darrius, and Jarrell, and the protective guardian to sisters Aamiya, Kialye, and Tahviah.
On the field, court, and track, Aamar's spirit was a force to be reckoned with. Unyieldingly committed to his teams, he was ever-ready to take on challenges, whether guarding a formidable opponent, chasing a fleeting moment of victory, or embodying resilience in every relay leg. This same tenacity and spirit flowed into his academic pursuits, responsibilities at home, job at Walmart, and the spirited video game sessions with friends and teammates. He never allowed his fearless competitive instinct to get in the way of his warm radiant smile or his respect for others.
Aamar attended Jackson Public Schools. After four years of hard work and fierce competition as a Viking Student-Athlete, he graduated this year with the Class of 2023. He recently enrolled in Jackson College and was relishing the opportunity to try-out for the Men’s Basketball Team there; he simply planned to outwork everyone. But, God had bigger plans for Aamar.
Aamar was deeply rooted in his faith, with Joshua 1:9 KJV serving as his guiding light: "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." When he reached the age 18, Aamar chose this scripture for his first tattoo. This is the motto he used to guide him daily, and he wanted a permanent reminder of God’s promise.
He leaves behind a rich legacy, cherished by his parents, Mario and Melissa; brothers, Law, Mario, Koronius (Sarah), Ayden (Alisa), Darrius, and Jarrell; sisters, Aamiya, Kialye, and Tahviah; grandparents, Jamie Capetillo, Chris and Melissa Burnor, Janet McClinton, and Walter and Sharon Harrell. His memory is also held dear by aunts: Rhonda (Terrence) Wilson, Tijuanna McClinton, Brooke Burnor, Anna (Joey) Hodges, Nikah Vidalez, Gabrielle Vidalez, and Haleigh Vidalez; uncles: Harvey Stone, Walter Harrell Jr., Eric (Katherine) Burnor, Garrett Burnor, and Brent Burnor, along with a host of nieces, nephews, close cousins, relatives, and friends.
Aamar's journey was a testament to strength, compassion, and purpose, illuminating the lives of all who knew him. While he will be profoundly missed, his legacy of love, dedication, and faith will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
