Willie R McIntee Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. Willie Roscoe McIntee was born on April 22, 1929 in Columbus, Georgia, to the parents of Mr. John and Mrs. Roxie McIntee who preceded him in death. His siblings, Josie and Walter, also preceded him in death. At the age of five, Willie’s parents enrolled him in Claflin Elementary School in Columbus, Georgia where he graduated in 1945. While in elementary school he performed duties as a Safety Patrol and was very involved in football and basketball. Willie graduated from Spencer High School in 1949 where he received his high school diploma. As an honor roll student, he was very active in sports such as basketball and football. He had many hobbies as a teen: biking, photography, auto mechanics and social dancing. After graduating from high school, he held several part-time jobs: Western Union, Parking Garage Attendant and Service Station Attendant. Willie entered the United States Air Force in March of 1950, nine months after graduating from high school. While in the Air Force, he was an Aircraft Maintenance person. Three months into his duties, he earned his 1st Stripe, (June 1950), 2nd Stripe, (September 1951), 3rd Stripe, (January 1952), 4th Stripe, (August 1954), 5th Stripe, (1962) and finally his 6th Stripe, (June 1967) which made him a Master/Sgt. On February 28, 1971, Willie retired as a Master/Sgt. He served active duty for twenty years and eleven months in the "United States Air Forces. Willie enjoyed his life, traveling throughout the states in his RV and overseas. During his spare time, Willie had many hobbies, I don't think he has missed many of the following games on television: basketball, football, baseball and hockey and auto racing. Did you know he was a part of the motorcycle club called the Taurus? That he loved going to concerts? Spent quality time with his late mother "Roxie" which he loved dearly? That was his life. After the Air Force, he worked for and retired from the Detroit Police Department, Ford Motor Company and finally the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. While working at the Water and Sewerage Department, Willie met and courted his beautiful wife Jacqueline now Mrs. Jacqueline Mclntee. He also loved spending his time with his wife by going to the movies, Red Lobster and Cracker Barrel were his favorite restaurants and home cooked meals. He transitioned on May 10, 2018 at his home in Detroit while his wife comforted him at his bedside. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Jacqueline Mclntee, Charles and Charlotte Downing (which he considered his (son and daughter), his niece, Brenda Brown, his best Air Force buddy Calvin Turner and a host of relatives and friends
