Today, we pause to celebrate the life and memory of a wonderful, God-fearing man,William Lee Courts. William transitioned from earth to eternal life on December 8,2019. His spirit, faith, and hope remained strong and filled with dignity and grace. William, alsoaffectionately known as Bill, graduated from the Ecorse Public Schools, in Ecorse, Michigan.He received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Manufacture Engineering from Wayne StateUniversity in Detroit, Michigan. William honorably served in the United States Army. He was trained as a Medical Corpsmanand a MP specialist. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.For over 30 years, he worked at General Motors Tool and Die division as a MechanicalEngineer and later retired from General Motors in 2002. William Lee Courts married Gwendolyn Johnson-Courts on May 16, 2016. They had a veryhappy, fulfilling life together. They enjoyed traveling and going on many cruises, severaltimes a year. Bill and Gwen loved playing games with family and friends.William was a devoted husband and father that put God and family first. He was a faithfulmember of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church. He liked working with technology and electronic gadgets. He also loved Tai Chi. Recentlyhe completed a 10-week training course.William was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Courts and Arvella Herron, brothers;Oliver Herron, Samuel Lee Courts and Walter James Courts, and wife of 47 years, PatriciaAnn Courts. He leaves to cherish his loving wife; Gwendolyn Courts, children; Charisa (Antoine) Jenkinsof Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Sonia Rice of Rochester, New York, Terence Courts of Atlanta,Georgia, Robert L. Todd of Manila, Philippines, Roberta Todd of Detroit, Michigan, andKimberly (Clifford) Lyons of Southfield, Michigan, brothers; Rahleecoh Ishakarah of Jackson,Mississippi, and Percy Joe Courts of Columbia, South Carolina, grandchildren; StephenRice, Sydnye Courts, Shaniyah Courts, Robert Todd, Ross Todd, Mariah Todd, Amber Todd,Keith Bartlett, Amanda Todd, Clifford Lyons, Jr. and Chares Lyons, and a host of nieces,nephews, relatives and friends.
