Mrs. Minnie Ola Dixon, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt went home to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at the age of 87 years. She was born October 22, 1932 in Perry, FL, the daughter of the late John and Leola (Wilcher) Beal. Minnie was a member of Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church (Saginaw, MI) for over 40 years until she moved to Ypsilanti, MI. In Ypsilanti, she was a member of Beautiful Gate International Church where her son Charles and daughter-in-law Sharolyn are pastors. Minnie gave her life to Christ as a young girl and was baptized in Bolton, Mississippi at St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church. Minnie grew up in Jackson, Mississippi. She moved to Muskegon, MI in 1950 where she attended high school at Muskegon High. It was there that she met the love of her life, Joseph Amos Dixon. They were married June 7, 1952 and spent the next 68 years living a life filled with love and family. They raised five children: Joseph, John, Charles, Diane and Linda. Minnie had a passion for life. She enjoyed every minute of time spent with the people that she loved. Her beautiful smile and caring spirit always brightened every room that she occupied. She was admired by all for her courageous spirit, strong faith in God and wholesome cooking! The Dixon home was always a source of life and refuge for anyone needing to have a good meal, a good laugh or an encouraging word. Minnie was a “Matriarch of Mothers” and her crowning achievement was raising God-fearing and successful children to carry on her legacy of love, faith, and grace. She was honored as Employee of the Year during her 15-year employment as a dietary assistant at Luther Manor in Saginaw, MI. Everything Minnie did, she did with her whole heart and with a spirit of excellence.
