Mary Delois Adams was born September 19, 1936 in Carrier Mills, Illinois to the late Alva Allen and Gladys Cole Allen. She was the second of five children born to this union. Mary graduated from Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1953. After graduation she relocated to Chicago, Illinois and united with Langley Avenue Church of God under the Rev. Dr. S.P. Dunn. It was there she began serving her Lord as president of the Nurses Guild. There in Chicago she began working for Standard Oil Company which opened the door for many other jobs which she loved. In 1979 she relocated to Detroit, Michigan and began worshipping at Southwestern Church of God under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Lawrence P. Wyatt. There she also served as President of the Nurses Guild. She began working at Grace Convalescent Center which later became Oak Pointe Villa.
