Mother Lane returned back to schoolattending Wayne State University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education and taught inthe Detroit Public Schools Community District for over 30 years. Mother Lane loved serving the Lord and especially catered to the Senior Citizens of the churchto make certain they were properly cared ford She made many, many, sacrifices and never, neverever wanted any types of praise or recognition. Mother had a quiet spirit about her but she was avery sanctified, powerful woman, and prayful warrior. She was also very talented playing varioustypes of instruments. Her children even bought her a small harp but she loved the piano and organ. She could tell you what “key” you were singing in or “not singing in” without even looking at thekeyboard. Mother was just gifted. Mother Lane was a member of the Minister’s Wives Guild; theMusic Department, Misssionaries, Sunday School, and Sisterhood. Mother Lane was also a sharpdresser even down to the shoes! Her favorite place was Somerset Mall. The Voices of Inspiration was the choir she held the highest esteem for. She and Bro. Robert Henry, who was the Director for over forty years, made certain that we were serious, in tune, or target, andon time!! Mother Lane had the choir singing anthems, hymns, singing the lastest gospel hits, andpresenting plays. Most of all, she will be known for directing the “Hallelujah Chorus” and “He’sAlive”. Nobody could direct those two songs like her! Traveling was very important to Mother Lane. She had Rhoda to help her “drive by car” to California,Arizona, Texas, Louisiana, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, Toronto, Washington, D.C., Tennessee,Atlanta, and Florida! Once to drove to Washington, D.C., by herself! She wanted to surprise Bishopwho was there preaching at the Gospel Spreading Church, Inc. She was blessed to have traveled toEurope and the Bahamas. She would often say, “I want to see the scenery and what God created.”Mother Lane was also an avid reader, loved to work crossword puzzles, knit, crochet, attend musicals, concerts, bake home-made rolls, and travel the world. She leaves to cherish the wonderful memories and legacy: Rhoda, William, Jr. (Cheryl), Brian (OliviaGail); Grandchildren: Jesse, Jr., Kiersten (Jeremy), Alexis (Kendell), Whitney, Adera (Eric), Benjamin;Great-Grandchildren: Karley, Kennedy, Jonah, and Elyse; and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives.Because You-Mother Marion Keene Lane, have set your love upon Me, and walked righteously beforeMe, I will deliver you and set you on high, for you have known and declared my name, I have regardedyou with a long satisfying life upon the Earth, and now will show you your everlasting salvationoffered through My Son-Jesus Christ (Psalm 91) “Well Done Thy Good and Faithful Servant!”
