Ludester Truman ascended to Heaven on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson, Michigan. Age 87 years, 9 months, and 25 days. Ludester was born on July 14, 1933, in Brandon, Mississippi to Glasper and Molly Truman. Ludester, known as “Sweet Lou” or as they called him in Mississippi, “Chewing Gum” moved to Jackson, Michigan at the age 10 in 1943, with his family. He also confessed Christ as his Saviour at 10 years old, at Second Baptist Church in Jackson under Reverend Mark Carrington. Ludester remained at Second Baptist Church until 2012, when he joined Greater Bible Way Temple under the leadership of Bishop Ira Combs, Jr. He was baptized by Bishop Combs and was filled with the Holy Spirit. Ludester loved his church and remained an active member at Greater Bible Way Temple until his death. Ludester attended Jackson High School where he was a good student and athlete. He was a member of the 1951 Graduating Class of Jackson High School. He was employed with Good Year Rubber Company on Sunday, July 15, 1951. Ludester took a leave of absence from Good Year Rubber Company to enlist in the United States Marines Corps. He proudly served his country from October 3, 1952 until his honorable discharge on October 2, 1955. Ludester returned to Jackson and working at Good Year Rubber Company until retiring in 1984. Three years after his first retirement, he was hired by the Jackson County Sheriff Department on May 15, 1987 and retired December 31, 1998. Ludester did not retire from the Sheriff Department before he became employed at Great Northern Security Company from 1998 until April 2018, his third and final retirement. He was a hard-working provider for his family all his life. He married Deatrice “Dee” Sudduth on Sunday, September 21, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan at Friendship Baptist Church. They were blessed with 6 children, Ronnell, Dianna, Douglas, Mark, Michelle, and Kimberly. Through good times and bad times, they were a strong, loving family. Ludester loved his family! I mean his entire family, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, even his in-laws. His greatest joy and pleasure were to host get togethers at his house, it didn’t matter if it was planned, impromptu, or anybody just stopping by to see if anything was going on. Ludester was always ready to entertain! He also enjoyed traveling down south (especially with Dee), eating out with family…he always paid for everything. You could stop by the house, to see Ludester, who more than likely was watching sports especially if baseball, basketball, football, or track was on TV because he was using his beloved Fire Stick that got every sports channel he wanted to watch! He leaves to cherish his loving memories five children; Ronnell Truman of Jackson, Michigan, Dianna (Maverick) Truman-Lewis of Holt, Michigan, Mark Truman, Michelle (Michael) Wallace, and Kimberly Truman, all of Jackson, Michigan, eleven grandchildren; LaTasha (Shawn) Foster, Myka “Nikki” (William) Davis, Dwight (Jesslyn) Palmer, Sr., Camille Truman, Delvone (Laquisha) Stewart, Sherray (Chinenye) Egele, DeShell Stewart, Iesha Summerville, De’Andre Wallace, Cheyanne Franklin, and Mekyla Truman, twenty great-grandchildren; Jaylon Jackson, DeAsia Davis, Sincere Roney, Nevaeh Roney, Destiny Stewart, Shawn Foster II, Kharee Davis, DeNae Stewart, Kyvon Taylor, Trevone Stewart, Kyren Davis, Jamail Arnold II, Gabrielle Franklin Truman, Taylor Stewart, Dallas Ezell, Dwight Palmer, Jr., Isiah Palmer, Malaysia Cole, Dakota Stewart, and Lamelo Cole, three great-great grandchildren; Nevaeh Jackson, Zy’len Roney and Princeton Emory, five siblings; Allah Jean Truman of Battle Creek, Michigan, Allen (Elaine) Truman and Glasper Truman both of Jackson, Michigan, Emma Marie (Charles) Thomas of Lansing, Michigan, and Tharasa (Duane) Parker of Jackson, Michigan, four brothers and sisters-in-laws; Christine Sudduth of Chicago, Illinois, Nancy (Thomas) Williams of Jackson, Michigan, Coleman (Erlene) Sudduth of East Lansing, Michigan, and Gregory (Wendy) Scott of Lansing, Michigan, special goddaughter; Claudia Hill, he was dearly loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
