“I thank my God always for you, because the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus so that in everything you were exceedingly enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge in this way our testimony about Christ is confirmed and established in you” 1 Corinthians 4-6 AMP We are gathered here today to commence the celebration of life of Laureen Brooks, or as you may know her Laurie, Reen, or Mom. So together we will share both our joy and sorrow with the peace of mind that she is amongst the Lord. In this day we hope to ease the aches that lie within us and replace them celebration. Laureen was only 58 years old when the lord called her home unexpectedly July 30th in Clinton Township. She preceded her sisters; Anita Lee Brown, Claudia Evans as well as her mother; Bennie Baines and father; Laurence Walker in death. Laureen graduated from Kettering High School and attended college at the Detroit Institute. Though she is no longer with us physically she remains with us in our hearts, our speech, and in spirit. Let us not dwell on the things that ailed her but the things that made her smile. The lives she touched were countless and we ask you to hold those memories close and share her legacy. The most important thing of Laureen’s life was her family and she took the job as; Mother, Sister, Daughter, Auntie and Grandmother seriously. They say it takes a village to raise a child but it only took one look from her and you knew; you better act right. Laureen was a soldier to say the least; she persevered through the thickest of times. Laureen is survived by her husband; Alvin T. Brooks whom she married in 1992, there six children; Keeyla, Shapassha, Destinee, Brittanee, Angela, and Raymone, 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, her brothers and sisters; Tina Harris, Alonda Walker, Lawrence Walker II, Laurence Wells and Kevin D. Evans and a host of other relatives and friends. Her legacy lives on in each and every one of you. So we request when you are thinking of us and her in this time, be Kind, Pray, Love Unconditionally and Smile. Considering how much you all love her we know that this has been hard, but she will always be with you.
